During the past 7 or 8 months I have communicated with many people about the International Convention in Montreal, either in person or via e-mail. Almost every Rotarian, in particular those from Canada or Zone 24, is just as excited about having the convention in Canada as I am. To show my commitment and enthusiasm, (and of course to save some money) both, my husband and I registered while in Birmingham last year. Registration figures for Montreal are excellent, but I know of a number of my Rotary friends, who say "See you in Montreal" have not yet registered. My friends, you can still save $100 PER COUPLE. Let's set an example for the rest of the Rotary world and register prior the March 31. SEE YOU IN MONTREAL Please encourage Fellow Rotarians to Register before March 31 <<< Follow the links Suives ces liens >>> | Things you need to know | CHANGE OF NAME Staff and volunteers at Rotary International are always working hard for you to improve communication and education during the Convention, so you will get the most out of it. To give Registrants for the Convention a taste of what is being offered Saturday night prior to the convention in Montreal, visit the Cirque de Soleil website. Considering that graduates of the Cirque performed at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Vancouver must tell you something about the quality of performers. --------- Don't miss the French performance of Les Miserables A block of tickets has been set aside for Rotarians for the 19 June French-language production of Les Misérables, the centerpiece of Les FrancoFolies this year. Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's award-winning musical adaptation of the classic Victor Hugo novel will take place at 8 p.m. in the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier concert hall at Montréal's Place des Artes. Buy your tickets early during an exclusive online presale (type ROTARY for your access code), or call 866-842-2112 and mention ROTARY to the operator. -------- There are still tickets available for the Recognition Lunches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Register early for these as they often sell out prior to the Convention. All Convention Speakers are now confirmed, check the Montreal Convention site on the RI web site for recent updates. | REDUCED HOTEL RATES | In an effort to partner with Rotary International, the following hotels have REDUCED their nightly room rates for the International Convention: - Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth Hotel - Le Sheraton Centre Montréal - Hotel Gouverneur Place Dupuis - Hôtel Omni Mont-Royal - Delta Montréal The revised rates will apply to all attendees who book in the room block, including those who booked prior to the rate change. Prior to my trip to last year's convention in Birmingham, I was told by many club members who have been to previous conventions, that it would change my relationship with Rotary forever. They were right. Now I will stand amongst them and tell you the same thing: Nothing will inspire you more than the energy of thousands of people from all countries, races, and walks of life who are dedicated to the ideal of Service Above Self. Few things may make you more proud to be Canadian than learning how our country helped make Rotary one of the world's largest, most successful humanitarian organizations in the world. Join me this June in Montreal as an ambassador of Canada and a proud Rotarian. Brad Mastaler, President Rotary Club of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada -------- Birmingham convention was a success, giving the fact that it occured at a time when the whole world was struggling through a financial crises . I personally enjoyed the warm hospitality of all the Rotarian I met. This year, I was able to add an extra three people on our list of attendance. During my presentation to my club . I told them ,about my experience with Rotarians from other countries. The importance of such an international event should be attended by every one at least once. The experience is just unbelievable . I have never been in the midst of so many friendly people. People don't care if you are black or white, as long as you are a Rotarian you are as important as any one else. Long live rotary, long live the solidarity.
