 YES, he was one of my mentors!

 
Walt taught me how to make my first "surf casting rod" from scratch over 2 decades ago! He was a true master in the art of building custom fishing rods as well as restoring vintage rods. He could weave almost anything into a custom rod, from an intricate pattern to your name... all in colored thread!

He used to absorb my fathers old dental tools for the fine thread work he speciallized in to make such amazing art! He was a very patient man... at least with me as I got to use his construction altar to make my fishing rod. I will miss the old bachelor! He was one of a kind!! Just an amazing old New Canaanite!
